Why is On-Demand IT superior to Professional Services?
Professional Services is an hourly service that we deliver as requested. Unless a customer requests regular maintenance, it is usually a more reactive repair service which is often begrudgingly called “break/fix” whereas On-Demand IT establishes a 24/7 system management.
Is On-Demand IT more expensive than Professional Services?
No, it will usually cost less over the long-term. It is always less expensive to prevent a problem than fix one. As the famous adage says, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. On-Demand IT establishes a predictable, consistent monthly cost that eliminates the billing spikes that nearly always accompany neglected maintenance.
Why Doesn’t Everyone Use On-Demand IT then?
That’s a very good question! Our On-Demand agreements require as few as a 2 hour commitment per month, and if you don’t need services, the hours roll over to the next month!
Is On-Demand IT the same as Managed Services?
No, it is a better deal for the customer to use On-Demand IT. Both service models involve a fixed monthly price, but managed services does not accrue hours. Under an On-Demand IT model, if we don’t need to service your network, the hours accumulate and can be used on ANY project requiring service hours such as server maintenance, new workstation installations, or web design.
Under a Managed Service agreement, you cannot accumulate services hours, and projects are charged separately. Managed Services often appear to be an “all-you-can-eat” service plan, but they are similar to insurance plans that contain various exceptions. On-Demand is a more fair, sensible, and accountable service model since IT Service Providers must document the hours charged.
To do this, CNM will implement a system that allows us to see your network from a whole new level. We are notified if your systems are running low on drive space, server utilization is too high, a system restarts, new software is installed, bandwidth usage is too high, and these are just a few simple examples.
Not only can our system detect these things, but it can also respond to them. We can automatically issue commands to your system to repair the issues that are being reported. At the end of each month we can provide you with a network health report that will summarize the health of your network.
We can produce complete inventories of hardware and software, run reports on system utilization, remote control workstations, manage system updates, and much more. If you have onsite support staff, we can provide them with access to our system so they can handle tickets or escalate them to our team if necessary.
Empowered with this information, your Network Manager can make much better decisions in directing resources and during equipment acquisitions. Since we are able to manage the daily maintenance of our networks more efficiently, your network manager is able to direct resources to improve the efficiencies and effectiveness of your technology, these efficiencies will allow your technology investment to finally deliver its potential.
All of these resources are available for you for a fraction of the cost of hiring someone internally. We want your investment with us to pay for itself with improvements in reliability, productivity, and cost savings. As always, our goal is cost effective Technology Management.
